It is that time of the year when the scorching sun spares none and the weather Gods turn deaf to your pleas for rains. As a result you sweat all day long and try to stay indoors as much as possible. But, for families it’s the best time to go far away from the simmering city and plan a weekend getaway to more serene and cool places.

But, the next question that pops in your head is where to? Should you go to the regular vacation spots or try something offbeat? ‘Offbeat is your answer, if we’re right? So, let’s look at some of the experience garnering vacation destinations you can head to:

Dharamshala – Trek to Trinud Hill

Surrounded by Deodar trees, Dharamshala is one of the most popular weekend getaway for most. But, you can quite easily escape the crowd and trek with your family towards Triund. Although the trek is easy than other high-altitude trails the last leg of the walk in the wild is a little difficult. But, the view from the Triund hilltop is phenomenal and a treat to the eye. You can camp for a night and then descend for shopping either at McLeodganj market or Dharamshala!

Isn’t it a fine blend of adventure and soaking in the local culture?

ManaliTrail to Khanpari – Lamadug Trek

You will go to Manali, but not for regular sight-seeing, skiing and paragliding that it is famous for. Instead, you will go on a trek from Manali to Lamadung. It is an easy grade trek that is perfect for first-timers and beginners so you have no reason to say no at all! You will walk through the dense forest and once you reach the alpine meadow that is 4,000 metres above sea level, you won’t be able to contain your happiness.

Dehradun – Rafting and Hiking on Tons River

Nestled between two mighty rivers – the Ganges and Yamuna – Dehradun is a picturesque landscape most families head to, but did you know that a 6-7 hour drive from Dehradun will take you to the Tons River. You can raft with your family and take your kids in the raft too! Usually, the rafting guide will ask the kids to be taken off the raft in grades where it is risky for them to be onboard. Will it not be fun to introduce your little ones to water sports?!  Besides rafting, you can go for a hike in the pine forest, encounter a few ravines and swim in natural pools and a gala time!
